YOUNG GIRLS
Self-Titled EP Available January 28, 2014 on Austin Town Hall

Post-punk garage dance outfit Young Girls create a sound that’s completely original and nostalgic all at the same time. “Most of the songs on this effort are about depressing topics, but this song is about all the good things in life.  It seems to be there to offset all the negativity of the other songs.”

Recorded at home over three days with the help from friend Candido Rezendes, the record’s four tracks clock in under ten minutes and features cuts about the darker side of being in a relationship (“Caroline”) juxtaposed with feelings of elation (“Vigilante”).  “It embodies all the good times,” explains Charlie. Flip the wax and the anthemic “By My Side” grabs the listener with escapades of having fun and staying up way too long. “Caroline” is a “conscious break up song,” explains Pete Tijerina. “It’s open ended with no particular advice. It’s about feeling like shit when your ex is dating someone else.”
